There is a wide range of activities on offer in the local area. These include:

Golfing: Courses can be found at Niort, Sainte, Rochefort, Royan and just outside Cognac, on the banks of the Charente.

Fishing: The Charente also has an abundant fish population, home to roach, bream, pike, perch, tench and carp. Fishing tackle and bait are widely available in supermarkets as well as specialist shops.

Canoeing: St Jean d'Angély canoe club rents canoes and kayaks and can provide instruction.

Swimming: There is a pool on-site or at the indoor Atlantys pool complex.

Cycling: Bicycles are available at the cottages for guest use.

Riding: The Cognac riding centre offers horse riding at about 15 euros per hour.

Go-karting and skate boarding: Are available along with many other sporting activities at St Jean d'Angély.

The velorail: An extraordinary walk in Rail-bike on an old railway line. Discover at your own rhythm the landscapes of North-Charente; from Roumazières to Confolens, while passing by Manot and Ansac. The Rail-bike has four wheels and pedals especially studied to circulate on an old disused railroad. Five passengers can sit comfortably, with two pedalling.
